“One Hot Minute” enters the U.S. album chart at #4.  1995

It’s the Red Hot Chili Peppers first album in four years.

John Lennon records his blistering “Cold Turkey.” Offered to the Beatles, who pass on it, the song is credited to the Plastic Ono Band – which consists of Lennon, Eric Clapton (guitar), fellow Beatle Ringo Starr (drums) and Manfred Mann’s Klaus Voorman (bass). Yoko Ono is in there as well.  1969

Lamb Of God’s bassist, John Campbell, has a birthday.  1972

Foghat plays a benefit concert in New York for the preservation of rare Blues recordings. Since Foghat built their reputation recycling Blues riffs it’s an appropriate payback. 1977

John Lennon gets a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. 1988

George Harrison (The Beatles) and David Crosby (Crosby. Stills & Nash) lend their voices to The Simpsons. Homer recounts his brief pop success as a member of the B-Sharps. Following a bitter break-up, the B-Sharps reunite on the rooftop of Moe’s Tavern to sing their one hit “Baby On Board.” George drives by in a limo and intones “it’s been done.” 1993

Not so funny, the B-52’s Kate Pierson is busted outside the offices of Vogue in New York for protesting the magazine’s publication of animal fur clothing ads. 1993

Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx sues Thrasher skateboarding magazine and Vans shoe company for using his image in an ad without his permission. Sixx is eventually awarded $600,000.  2003

Monster Magnet bassist Jim Baglino does jail time following a chaotic NY performance. “We had a really crazy show and there was no barricade and I swung my bass and hit a guy in the head,” explains Baglino. 2004

It’ll be coach for you Ms. Love! Courtney Love (Hole) is sued by a Los Angeles travel agency for almost $50,000 worth of unpaid airline tickets and services. This kind of thing could get a person banned from first class. 2004

The Red Hot Chili Peppers and former Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell perform at a Beverly Hills luau-themed benefit for the Autism Coalition and Surfers Healing, a nonprofit organization that offers surfing lessons for autistic children. 2004

The stage production of “The Toxic Avenger,” with music and lyrics by Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan opens in New Brunswick, NJ. The play is based on the ’86 horror comedy of the same name. 2008

Kid Rock’s request to have his performances for overseas U.S. troops count toward the 80-hours of mandated community service, resulting from his ‘07 Waffle House brawl, is denied in court. “I really take it as a slap in the face, and really have trouble thinking of a better way to ‘serve the community’,” says Rock. However, the judge states that Rock normally gives concerts so that activity doesn’t meet the community service obligation.  2008

Chvrches Lauren Mayberry authors an article in The Guardian in response to hateful comments made about her online. “What I do not accept, however, is that it is all right for people to make comments ranging from ‘a bit sexist but generally harmless’ to openly sexually aggressive,” writes Mayberry. 2013

Sir Paul McCartney and Beck perform for a sell-out, star-studded audience at the PETA US 35th anniversary gala in Hollywood. 2015

Marilyn Manson is injured when a giant pistol stage prop he climbs falls on him during a New York City concert.  Manson is rushed to the hospital and the remainder of the show is cancelled “due to injury.”  2017

Long COVID sidelines Dave Navarro. Jane’s Addiction guitarist announces he will not be on the band’s “Spirits On Fire” tour with Smashing Pumpkins due to his lingering COVID-19 symptoms.  He is temporarily replaced by Queen Of The Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen.  2022
