“American Idiot,” the lead single from Green Day’s album of the same name, is out. The song peaks at #61 on the Billboard Hot 100 but tops Modern Rock Tracks chart. 2004

The Concert For Peace in New York has Janis Joplin, Edgar Winter and Steppenwolf. The show is on the 25th anniversary of the first use of an atomic bomb-dropped on Hiroshima. 1970

Stevie Wonder is involved in a serious car accident near Winston-Salem. He’s in a coma for four days. Fortunately, he recovers. 1973

Manfred Mann’s Earth Band issues a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Blinded By The Light.”  It goes gold.  1976

“Pink Floyd’s The Wall” opens in New York for a limited engagement. No dialogue, just music and disturbing images. Critics deservedly pan the surrealistic film. 1982

Guns N’ Roses’ debut album, “Appetite For Destruction,” is #1 on the Billboard 200  – over a year after the album’s release.  1988

Creed’s reunion tour with their four original members kicks off in Pittsburgh. “We’re not looking at this as a reunion,” maintains vocalist Scott Stapp. “It’s more of a rebirth.” This is their first appearance since disbanding in ’02. 2009

Jon Stewart closes out his sixteen-year run as the host of The Daily Show with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performing “Land Of Hope And Dreams” and “Born To Run.” Stewart introduces Springsteen by stating “here’s my moment of Zen.” 2015
