JANUARY 24th “Balance” is Sammy Hagar’s last album with Van Halen “There had been a variety of conflicts brewing between Sammy and the band since I quit drinking on October 2, 1994,” claims guitarist Eddie Van Halen. “It got so bad that I actually started drinking again.” 1995Lamb Of God’s “Resolution” arrives. Featuring the track “Ghost Walking,” the album is the band’s follow-up to ’09’s “Wrath.” 2012

Their sixth album peaks at #3 on the Billboard 200 but tops all the Rock Albums charts.

Green Day’s “American Idiot” is certified 6x platinum (six-million copies sold) by the Recording Industry Association of America. 2013

The documentary “Cobain: Montage Of Heck” premieres at the Sundance Film Festival. Courtney Love, and her and Kurt’s daughter Frances Bean Cobain, the executive producer on the project, attend. Directed by Brett Morgen, the film is the first authorized film about the late Nirvana frontman. 2015

Carlos Santana and his wife, Deborah, open Santana House in Los Angeles. The facility, run by the Violence Intervention Program (VIP), aids victims of physical abuse. It’s named after the couple to honor their support of the VIP. 2007

Drowning Pool confirms that former Built XL frontman Jason ‘Gong’ Jones has been tapped to replace late singer Dave Williams. 2004

In New York, an overzealous concertgoer throws a beer that lands on the mixing board, blowing out the sound system, ending Iron Maiden’s performance at the Hammerstein Ballroom. The concert is only one of six U.S. performances the group makes in support of their “Dance Of Death” album. Fans exit the venue without incident. 2004

Radiohead play Hollywood’s Henry Fonda Theatre to raise money for Haiti’s earthquake victims. The concert earns $572,000 for Oxfam’s Haiti relief efforts. The show also marks the first time Radiohead performs the song “Lotus Flower” as a group. 2010

Bret Michaels (Poison) undergoes surgery to close a hole in his heart. Doctors insert a closure device that remains in Michaels’ heart permanently to stop abnormal blood flow between two chambers of his heart which is thought to have caused a warning stroke. The operation is deemed a success. 2011

“The Last Ship,” the Broadway musical written by Sting (Police), closes after a three-month stint at NYC’s Neil Simon Theater. The show ran for 105 performances. 2015

Papa Roach receive Pandora’s “Billion Streams” honor in recognition of their catalog reaching a billion streams on the music service. The band members are presented with the plaque to mark the achievement.  2019

Heart guitarist Nancy Wilson receives the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) “Music For Life” award during the opening Breakfast of Champions session. The award honors artists who have inspired others. “She is a guitar pioneer, a songwriting pioneer, a legendary singer, a film composer, a Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee, and has done so much to advance the cause of music-making,” says NAMM president and CEO Joe Lamond.  2019

The Dead Daisies announce the return of drummer Brian Tichy to the musical collective of Glenn Hughes, Doug Aldrich and David Lowy. Tichy first joined the band in ‘13 during the U.S. “Uproar” tour.  2022

Evanescence’s ’03 hit “Bring Me To Life” surpasses one-billion streams on Spotify. The song is on the band’s debut album “Fallen.”  2024

Slipknot frontman and solo artist Corey Taylor shares a video message addressing concerns over his well-bring after he cancels a North American tour. He decides to take a break and focus on his mental and physical health and spend time with his family.  2024
