Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor says that he doesn’t foresee himself selling the publishing rights to the songs he has written.
Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Stevie Nicks and Neil Young are among the legendary artists who have sold off substantial rights to their music.
“I’m still writing,” said Taylor in an interview. “My releases still do really, really well. So I’m still building that publishing up.”
Taylor’s goal is to pass along the publishing rights and royalties to his family.
Publishing rights have been sold for millions… Springsteen received $500 million, Dylan got $200 million, half of Neil Young’s catalog reportedly went for $150 million and a portion of Nicks’ catalog was sold for $100 million.
