Smashing Pumpkins’ “Atum: Act Three” has arrived.
As the title implies this is the third installment of “Atum: A Rock Opera In Three Acts.”
“Atum: Act One” was released on November 15th, ’22, with “Atum: Act Two” arriving on January 31st, ’23.
Frontman Billy Corgan has stated that the “Atum” trilogy is a concept album that serves as a sequel to “Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness” and “Machina/The Machines Of God” albums.
Corgan added that the story has “one foot in reality and one foot in a made up-world… It’s based on a lot of autobiographical things. But there’s lots of things that I’m just interested in exploring that don’t necessarily have anything to do with me.”
‘Atum’ is of Egyptian origin meaning ‘whole’.
