Slipknot co-founder and percussionist M. Shawn Crahan (a.k.a. Clown) took to the band’s social media accounts Sunday to announce that he will miss the remaining dates of Slipknot‘s European tour to attend to Chantel, his ailing wife.
“Unfortunately, I had to return back home to be with my wife due to her medical situation,” wrote Crahan. He also thanked fans for their “overwhelming support.”
Though Chantel’s medical condition is undisclosed, it is thought to be part of her ongoing battle with Crohn’s disease (a chronic inflammatory bowel disease). Clown married Chantel in 1993.
Clown plans to return for the group’s appearance in at Rock Fest in Cadott, WI on July 14th.
On the eve of Slipknot‘s European tour, Clown announced that he would sit out a number of the band’s shows in order to stay home with his wife. He returned for the band’s appearance earlier this month at the Download Festival and a few subsequent shows.
