Imagine Dragons appear at halftime during the broadcast of the Clemson/Alabama College Football Championship at Levi Stadium in San Francisco. However, Imagine Dragons are live on Treasure Island with guest Lil Wayne. “Imagine ‘hitting the notes’ Dragons,” one audience member tweets. “Imagine Dragons with the only performance worse than Bama’s defense so far tonight,” tweets another. Clemson wins the game 44-16 before Imagine Dragons drop a remixed version of “Believer” with Lil Wayne.

2016 A plaque is unveiled in honor of drummer Cozy Powell in his hometown of Cirencester, U.K. Powell died in a ’98 car crash. His resume includes stints with Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Whitesnake, Jeff Beck, and Thin Lizzy. “Cozy really helped to define the whole genre of rock drumming as we know it today,” says Queen’s Brian May.
2020 Neil Peart, the longtime drummer and lyricist for Rush, dies at age 67 in Santa Monica, CA, after battling brain cancer. Peart’s bandmates urge those who want to express condolences to do so by donating to a cancer research group or charity.
2020 Metallica pledges a $500,000 (U.S.) donation to Australian bushfire relief through their charity foundation, All Within My Hands. “The resulting destruction and devastating effects on all residents, animals, the environment, and the incredible land in Australia is truly heartbreaking,” writes the band on Instagram.
