Long ago, the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame abandoned any pretense of being focused solely on Rock.

And after receiving countless complaints about the merits of some inductees the Hall gave fans a collective vote.  Regularly, the winner of the fan vote does get inducted.

But it seems numerous voters have deserted Rock as well.  So far, the leaders in this year’s fan voting are pop singers George Michael and Cyndi Lauper, plus the eclectic Warren Zevon (who is actually worthy).

Meanwhile, Iron Maiden and Soundgarden are holding the fourth and fifth spots, respectively… behind the leaders by two-hundred-thousand votes out of three million cast.

George Michael – 440,000 votes

Cyndi Lauper – 439,000 votes

Warren Zevon – 330,000 votes

Iron Maiden – 240,000 votes

Soundgarden – 236,000 votes

Through April 28th, fans can vote every day through the Hall Of Fame’s website. The top five artists, as selected by the public, will comprise a “fans’ ballot” that will be tallied along with the other ballots to select the 2023 inductees.

It’s important to tip the scales in favor of Rock artist so go to the Rock Hall website and vote!
