The late Neil Peart, drummer and lyricist for Rush, will be honored with two bronze statues that are set to be erected in Ontario’s Lakeside Park in the city of St. Catherines.

Though born in Hamilton, Ontario, Peart’s family moved to St. Catherines when he was two.

The ’70s era Peart statue stands at the forefront roughly 12-feet tall. Seated behind is a statue of an older Peart.

The statues honor Peart’s music and innovative lyrics which touched on science fiction, fantasy, and philosophy.

The Neil Peart Commemorative Task Force selected a final design, from a handful of submission, and will manage the creation and installation of the artwork.

To make that happen, they’re seeking donations to raise $1 million in funding — donations are being solicited.
