“Moonage Daydream,” Brett Morgen’s unconventional David Bowie documentary, is on HBO and HBO Max.
The title was taken from a song on Bowie’s classic ’72 album “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars.”
With permission from Bowie’s estate, Morgen was able to spend two years scouring Bowie’s artistic vaults to create a non-linear encapsulation of the artist’s work… both musical and non-musical. Also, there are no voiceovers as is common in documentaries aside from those interviewing Bowie.
“Moonage Daydream” premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. A U.S. theatrical release followed.
