Frampton comes alive! Humble Pie guitarist and solo performer, Peter Frampton, is born. 1950

Somebody at A&M Records thought it would be a good idea to put out a double live album. With the onslaught of disco and not much happening in Rock, “Frampton Comes Alive” (’76) sold millions of copies and became the best-selling double LP at the time.

Offspring’s “Ixnay On The Hombre” goes platinum. It’s the group’s first album for Columbia Records. 1997

The band’s fourth studio effort peaked at #9 on the Billboard 200.

The title is a combination of Pig Latin and Spanish.

With Andy Warhol producing, the Velvet Underground start recording their debut, “Velvet Underground & Nico.” 1966

The Who give the first complete performance of their Rock opera “Tommy.” The show is in Dolton, England. 1969

“Pork & Beans,” the first single from Weezer’s self-titled sixth album, is available as a digital download. 2008

Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora pleads no contest to a drunken-driving charge stemming from an arrest the previous month in Laguna Beach, CA. A related DUI count is dropped as part of the deal, which calls for the guitarist to pay penalties totaling $1,600, attend an alcohol-education class and undergo three-years’ probation. 2008

Heart’s Ann and Nancy Wilson receive the Founders Award at ASCAP’s 26th annual Pop Music Awards in L.A. The performing rights organization’s president Marilyn Bergman describes the Wilsons as “music trailblazers” whose “success and influence helped pave the way for other female artists. 2009

Earth Day News: Pearl Jam receive the Planet Defender award from Rock the Earth, a not-for-profit environmental advocacy organization. 2011

Three Days Grace score their tenth #1 single on Billboard’s Active Rock chart. “The High Road,” from their ’12 album “Transit To Venus,” gives Three Days Grace the record for the most #1’s on the chart. They had been tied with Linkin Park and Shinedown. 2013

Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil becomes a part owner of the Arena Football League’s Jacksonville Sharks. Neil plans to move the franchise to his adopted hometown of Las Vegas. 2014

St. Vincent (Annie Clark) is the Record Store Day ambassador. She is the first female Rock performer to hold that title in Record Store Day’s 10-year history. The top vinyl album seller is the Grateful Dead set “P.N.E. Garden Auditorium, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada 7/29/66.”  The #1 single is a seven-inch with remastered versions of The Beatles’ “Strawberry Fields Forever” and “Penny Lane.”  The annual event promotes brick-and-mortar music shops through special releases. 2017

To promote his solo album “Earthling” Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder conducts an Earth Day interview with the crew aboard the international space station. Set up through NASA Vedder asks the crew about climate change. 2022

Neil Young makes his first onstage appearance since September ‘19 at the sixth annual “Light Up the Blues” autism concert at L.A.’s Greek Theatre. His performance is alongside Stephen Stills (CSNY, Buffalo Springfield). 2023

Machine Gun Kelly’s 33rd birthday is interrupted when a police helicopter issues a demand for everyone to leave the party after Kelly is seen wielding an active flamethrower.  2023
