Red Sun Rising

Two musicians, living in nearby neighborhoods, attending the same high school, never meet until they start talking music at a gas station. Pretty soon, vocalist and guitarist Mike Protich and guitarist Ryan Williams, were writing songs and formed a band playing local venues.

Four years in, Red Sun Rising found guitarist Tyler Valendza. The interplay between Williams and Valendza stepped up their game, but the band still had a ways to go.

Two self-released indie albums, "Red Sun Rising" and "The Making Of Kings," in addition to website and social media efforts, helped build the Akron, OH band's profile.

With bassist Ricky Miller and drummer Pat Gerasia in the fold, Red Sun Rising landed a deal with Razor & Tie Records which led to their '15 album "Polyester Zeal." It contained the songs "The Otherside" and "Emotionless." Both went to #1 on the Rock Radio Chart.

That same year, Valendza was replaced by Dave McGarry.

Next, Red Sun Rising released "Thread." Produced by Matt Hyde (Deftones, AFI, Porno For Pyros), the '18 album contained the track "Deathwish," which "only" went to #12 on Rock Radio Chart.
