Courtney Barnett

Courtney Barnett's debut full-length album, "Sometimes I Sit And Think And Sometimes I Just Sit" arrived in March, '15.

Prior to that the Australian musician was in a Garage Grunge band named Rapid Transit and a Psych/Country outfit called Immigrant Union, a musical project founded by Brent DeBoer of The Dandy Warhols and Bob Harrow. Later, DeBoer played drums on Barnett's debut EP "I've Got A Friend Called Emily Ferris." The EP came out on Barnett's own label Milk! Records.

Barnett's second EP "How To Carve A Carrot Into A Rose," with lead single "Avant Gardener," earned some international recognition and favorable press.

Those two EPs were subsequently merged into a single package logically titled, "The Double EP: A Sea Of Split Peas."

Next came Barnett's full-length effort containing the single "Pedestrian At Best," which took down music biz phonies ("you're a joke but I don't think you're funny").

The album earned Barnett a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist but the trophy went to Meghan Trainor.

Barnett and Kurt Vile recorded the '17 album "Lotta Sea Lice." The collaboration began with "Over Everything," a song Vile wrote with Barnett's voice in mind.

As might be expected, the set did well in Australia (it received the '15 Australian Music Prize award given for the best Australian album of the year) but it also found an audience in the U.S. peaking at #10 on the Top Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums charts and going to #4 on the Independent Albums survey. A joint U.S. tour no doubt helped.

With the tour completed Barrett began work on her sophomore solo album. Burke Reed, who produced "Sometimes I Sit And Think And Sometimes I Just Sit," was again at the controls.

Recorded in Melbourne, '18's "Tell Me How You Really Feel" featured Barrett's live band, Drones guitarist Dan Luscombe and guest appearances by Kim and Kelley Deal (The Breeders).

Kim provided backing vocals on "Nameless, Faceless" and guitar and backing vocals on "Crippling Self-Doubt And A General Lack Of Confidence." Kelley sang backing vocals on the latter.
