"We just want to make fun, Punk-Rock, Hardcore, wild music, play crazy shows and have a good time without any pressure from anything," stated Beartooth frontman Caleb Shomo.
Shomo started working toward that goal while still with Attack! Attack!, an Emo Metalcore a band with Christian-based lyrics (but not a Christian band).
Initially, he didn't have high expectations for Beartooth but when he left Attack! Attack!, it became his primary creative vehicle.
For the "Sick" EP, Shomo sang, produced and played all the instruments.
He then put together a band but it needed some tweaking.
In early '14, two former members of City Lights signed on. Rhythm guitarist Kamron Bradbury was first. When bassist Nick Reed left he was replaced by Oshie Bichar.
The group's full-length debut, "Disgusting," dropped in '14 and went to #6 on the U.S. Hard Rock chart. It also cracked the Top 20 in the Indie and Rock charts. The set peaked at #20 in the U.K.
Two songs from the album, "Beaten Lips" and "In Between," landed on the Mainstream Rock chart.
Beartooth played a date on the '13 Van's Warped Tour. A year later, they were featured on the entire trek.
Appearances at the Reading and Leeds festivals in the U.K. were followed by an opening slot on Slipknot's tour. Beartooth closed out the year with a U.K. headlining trek.
Beartooth was nominated for Best New Band at the '15 Metal Golden Gods Awards but lost to The Defiled.
Next, drummer Brandon Mullins bailed prior to the release of the group's '16 sophomore set "Aggressive."
